Finnish Dictionary Extension is a browser extension for looking up Finnish words while reading. This policy explains what data the extension handles and where it stays.

Data we collect

We collect no data. The extension does not transmit any information to external servers or third parties.

Data stored on your device

The following information is saved locally in your browser using the standard storage API:

• Words you save to your personal dictionary, including the date saved and the page URL.
• Your quiz progress for saved words.
• Your chosen interface language and translation language.

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing browser storage.

Translation

Word definitions are translated on-device using the browser's built-in translation capabilities. No text is sent to external servers for translation.

Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions necessary to function:

• storage — to save your dictionary and preferences locally.
• activeTab / scripting — to show the hover tooltip on the page you are reading.
• contextMenus — to add a shortcut to the toolbar icon menu.
• Access to all URLs — so dictionary mode works on any Finnish page you visit.
